On April 11th, 2012, almost 6 years from the release of version 1.0, Sitni Sati announced availability of the FumeFX 3.0 for AD’s 3ds max platform. FumeFX 3.0 offers many innovations and artist-friendly improvements that provide unique control over the simulation. featuring chronicle this such as a GPU accelerated Preview Window, simulation of nested grids, support for Space Warp deformers and newly added Effectors will allow you to approach VFX scene construction in a completely different and more flexible manner.

In collaboration with Digic Pictures and Luma Pictures, Sitni Sati is pleased to reveal the development of FumeFX for Maya. Each of these respectable facilities’ pipelines are based on AD’s Maya, ensuring that FumeFX for Maya will be ready for production environments. FumeFX for Maya should become available later this year.
Effectors are the most valuable and the most powerful feature of this release. With just a few mouse clicks, artists can tweak the laws of physics or alter any simulated field based on built-in rules. For example, Effectors can drive setups where vorticity is controlled by velocity, gravity is controlled by smoke color and fire is created in voxels where velocity is higher versions of this software a user-defined threshold. RenderWarps are another great tool that will find application on many VFX shots. This feature allows users to apply space warps such as FFD, Bend, Taper and Noise to precomputed FumeFX caches. As RenderWarps are a post-process, re-simulation is not needed.

N-Sim enables artists to connect several grids together and execute their simulations simultaneously as one big simulation. This approach can be invaluable for increasing the level of detail in scene setups such as a rocket launching.

FumeFX 3.0 adds support for AfterBurn Daemons such as Void Daemon or Swird Daemon. For optimal workflow, Daemon’s user interface is displayed directly inside the FumeFX.

The GPU accelerated Preview Window is another time-saver, providing instant feedback for adjusting rendering parameters. Self-shadows are computed extremely fast and the user can orbit the camera around FumeFX with self-shadows in real-time(1). FumeFX also supports preview with geometry incorporated in the material in simulation.

Install for either MAX 2012 or MAX 2013.

Run AfterFLICS_tools.exe from C:\Program Files (x86)\AFLICS and select Service/Stop.
Exit AfterFLICS_tools.
Copy AfterFLICS.exe from the crk dir to C:\Program Files (x86)\AFLICS and overwrite the original.
Verify that your AfterFLICS.ini has the following info:

[Servers]
localhost
[Guests]
everyone

Run AfterFLICS_tools.exe once again and select Service/Start.
Exit AfterFLICS_tools.
Go to Create/Geometry/FumeFX and select it. An AfterFLICS Authorization window will appear.
Select localhost and then click Authorize.
At the Product Authorization window, select Manual Auth.
Enter the number of licenses desired and use any number for the Auth Code, and select Authorize.
To be sure everything is working fine, go to General Parameters/About FumeFX.
Select Reauthorize FumeFX (Sim lic.) An AfterFLICS Authorization window will appear.
Select localhost and then click Authorize.
At the Product Authorization window, select Manual Auth.
Enter the number of licenses desired and use any number for the Auth Code, and select Authorize.

IMPORTANT!
The server is protected by a custom (Only 1 person in the world has it) packer. If your AV complains…too fucking bad.
